The following steps will help you on setting up a network:
So first, we are going to start from the desktop.
From the desktop, you are going to click the start button, locates on the bottom left hand corner of your screen. (This screen is different, the button is located at the top left corner of the screen on the image above.
When you clicked the start button, the start menu came up. On the right hand side of the start menu, go down the list until you see the Control Panel. Once you see the control panel, click on that.
In the Control Panel, you will find many tools to change your systems settings. You will refer to the control panel often when making necessary changes to your computer. From here, find Network and Internet and click on that, it is right under System and Security.
You are now in Network and Internet. From here, you can join a network, make, edit, and join a HomeGroup, and access your Internet Options. Click on Network and Sharing Center.
From here, you can set up a new connection or network, connect to a network, Choose HomeGroup and sharing options, and troubleshoot problems. You can also change many other settings. You are going to click on "Set up a new connection or network".
This menu will pop up when you click on "Set up a new connection or network" in the Network and Sharing Center of the Control Panel. From here, you will want to click "Manually Connection to a Wireless Network".
This menu will pop up. You will enter the settings in the image as I have above. But your network settings are different than mine. You may need to ask your network advisor for the network name and security key, if you have not already obtained them.
This is what you will have if you go back to Network and Sharing Center. Under the text, View your basic network information and set up connections, there will be three images. Your computer, the network, and the internet will all be connected together in a chain. You are now connected to the internet! Congrats. :) Coming up next week will be a tutorial on how to install iTunes, and set up an iPod Touch with your computer. More details coming through out the week. I hope you found this tutorial to be helpful. and I hope you are having fun using the internet. :) Instinct out.
