Brief intro to Mac OS X and Tutorial

Today, I am going to teach you how to make an account on Mac OS X. But first, you should know a few things. Mac OS X is made by Apple Inc, it is a operating system software for computers. It is run on computer only made by Apple. So Macbooks, iMacs, Mac Pros, and Mac Minis run this software. Mac OS X is a very advanced piece of software, it is similar to Windows, but in my opinion Mac OS X is better than Windows. It is very easy to use, simplistic in fact. If you're a Windows user and you switch to a Mac computer, you will never want to go back to Windows again. Guaranteed. In my previous tutorials of iOS, I might have mentioned that iOS is Mac OS X in a smaller form. Mac OS X currently comes with alot of neat stuff. YOu can use iPhoto to organize and edit pictures, iMovie to edit pictures, iTunes to listen to your favorite music, and you can use the iLife suite to do alot of neat things as well.

Note: Due to internet connection, I was unable to upload pictures for this tutorial, so I am sorry for the inconvenience.

But at any rate. We are going to start the tutorial. We are going to create an account, which is very simple to do.  We are doing this tutorial on my Choir teachers computer today.

We are doing to start from the desktop. On a Mac, the desktop looks similar to a Windows computer. But there are a few minor differences. There is something called a Dock, which is located on the right side of this machine. There is also a taskbar located on the top of the computer, instead of the bottom, different from a Windows computer.

Anyway. So we are at the desktop. In the far left hand corner of the screen, click on the Apple logo, and then go down and click on System Preferences.

In System Preferences, find Accounts and click on that account. When you click that, a prompt for Accounts will appear. You can add accounts, delete them, change the passwords, change profile pictures, edit Parental Controls, and other things. We are going to add an account. Near the bottom of the Accounts windows, there will be a "+" symbol. Click that and a prompt for adding an account will appear. From there enter your username, password, and password hint. When you have finished entering that information, click Create Account.

Congrats! You've created your own account for your Mac computer! Wasn't that easy? Next week, we will have another tutorial on Mac OS X. We will get more into user accounts and system preferences. I will also briefly show you the programs Mac OS X has to offer, they are really neat programs! But until next weeks blog post, see you later. Instinct out.
